GARY HOWSE

"Quality and creativity are always the goal, and achievable only by the most committed professionals."

Allure, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, Town & Country, Modern Salon--numerous magazines have recognized Gary Howse as one of America's top hair designers.  He's also received the International Beauty Show (IBS) Award for most newsworthy hair designer and named one of the 10 most influential salon owners in America by Modern Salon Magazine.

A co-owner and founder of Gary Manuel Salon since 1979, Gary has been a hair professional since 1976. While studying chemistry in college, he saw that his creativity could thrive in the beauty industry.  He worked in several local salons, including Frederick and Nelson, then Seattle's premier department store.  There, Gary met Manuel--Salon co-founder Manuel Benevich, that is--and together they have run the Salon for over 30 years.

Gary's talent for styling and fashion is matched only by an enduring passion for educating and inspiring the industry's next wave of master designers.  Along with the Salon's Education Leader Tsofia Richter, Gary is deeply involved in the development of the Salon's seasonal fashion releases as well as making sure the salon's award winning designer training program continues to be one of the country's best.

An energetic and engaged member of the local community, Gary devotes much of his free time to making downtown Seattle more livable (he is a co-founder of the Downtown Seattle Resident's Council) and addressing AIDS-related causes.  As a past Board member of the Lifelong AIDS Alliance he continues to contribute time and resources to this important organization (www.llaa.org).
