Q. How do hair extensions work? What makes the Hairlocs Hair Extension System different?

A.  Gary Manuel Salon uses the Hairlocs Hair Extension System, one of the industry's breakthrough technologies. Hairlocs uses the finest quality hair. which is applied with a cold application by a certified designer. Unlike other methods, Hairlocs uses no chemicals, sewing, heat, or glue.

Q. Where does the hair come from?

A.  The hair we use comes from Europe, Russia, Spain, and Italy, areas where people have thick hair textures and rarely color treat their hair. This is the hair of your dreams.

Q. Will people be able to see the extensions?

A. The extensions are done in small, individual sections, and are always applied behind the hair line and away from the natural partings to leave the hair looking natural.  The designer takes a small section of your hair and attaches the extension with a small metal “shell” that matches the hair color so the extensions and connectors blend naturally with your hair and are virtually undetectable. Because the extensions are attached in small sections, they move freely and naturally.

Q. Will the extensions damage my natural hair or cause discomfort?

A.   Because there is no glue or heat used, the Hairlocs system will not damage your natural hair. With Hairlocs, there is no tension, stretching, or chemicals used during the application or the take down process.  The process is very gentle.  Extensions can take a little while to get used to, and may cause some slight discomfort while sleeping in the beginning.  However, after a few days, when your hair loosens up a bit, you probably won't even notice them.

                                                        
Q. What do I need to do to care for my hair extensions?

A.  With Hairlocs, you can swim, exercise, color, perm, and style your hair the way you normally do. You can even use your favorite hot tools like flat irons and hot curlers.  There are specific ways to brush your scalp and hair, your Gary Manuel designer will demonstrate during your first appointment.  Also, you should only condition the ends, not the scalp.  You'll need to come in to the Salon for readjustments about every two to three months, depending on how fast your hair grows out.

Q. Will the extensions match my hair's natural color and texture?

A. The certified Hairlocs specialists at Gary Manuel Salon will match your color and texture perfectly.  There are forty different Hairlocs shell and extension colors to choose from as well as ten different textures to ensure an ideal match.  We can also take a sample of your natural hair and custom order hair to match its color and texture precisely.

Q. How much length can I add to my hair with extensions?

A.  You can custom order hair as long as you want.  The standard length is from twelve to twenty-four inches.

Q. How long will the extensions last?

A.  With proper care, your hair extensions can go for up to three months before needing maintenance, depending on how fast your hair grows.  With maintenance, the extensions can last up to one year.  About once a year, your designer will need to take out the extensions, treat the hair and make sure it's all in good condition, maybe give it a little trim, then re-attach new hair.

Q. How much do extensions cost?

A. The cost of extensions depends on many factors--(length, thickness, color, texture, etc).  Also, the initial application costs more than maintenance--since the cost of the hair is significant and only has to be repeated when the hair becomes worn (usually once a year).  We wlll quote an exact price at the initial consultation appointment.
